Jamie Giannou is a Masters student at York University in the Humanities division. In 2010, he graduated from York University with a B.A. in English and European Studies. He received his Bachelors of Education, in 2011, at the Ontario Institute for Education at the University of Toronto. He is qualified to teach at the Junior, Intermediate, and Senior divisions, English and Dramatic Arts. During his undergrad, Jamie was awarded the Gisela Argyle Prize for essay writing in European Studies. His essay was titled: The Inverted City: Baudelaire and Georges Franju’s Paris.
Jamie’s interests are in the field of Comparative Literature. He is also a member of the Ontario College of Teachers. As a member, and future educator, he would like to extend his research into the classroom. He plans to analyze German Romantic theory as pedagogy. He believes the concepts of the sublime, the uncanny, and the study of ruins, could be used to teach History. Specifically, he would like to consider Contemporary Children’s Literature and Drama as a means to explore these concepts further.
